About Jacquie D.

I have been a swim coach since 2018, recently advancing my skills by joining the SwimMastery worldwide team of highly trained swim coaches. Joint Mechanics, physics and unique learning methods lead to quick, effective and amazing results in the pool.

I also teach group fitness classes and specialise in senior/rehab fitness (Cardiac rehab, mental health, Falls Prevention) as well as teaching Zumba (I love dancing) and strength classes.

I’m particularly interested in how our bodies change as we age and what types of exercise help us to maintain a healthy body as we get older. I practise yoga,  walk, love my garden and of course swim!

I was a competitive swimmer as a child and worked as a swimming teacher and lifeguard throughout university.


I came back to swimming in 2014 when my husband took up triathlon. Being a good runner and cyclist he really struggled to understand why he couldn’t swim faster despite putting in the training hours and going to the local tri club swim sessions.

He realised he needed to improve his technique so we hit the pool. 

We attended a swim workshop a few months later and then found our coach  Emma Levy at Edinburgh Swim Studio. 

A year after working with Emma, she encouraged me to go and train to be a TI swim coach which I did in Spain in October 2018, returning later to complete advanced freestyle, butterfly, backstroke and breastroke training.

In September 2021 I continued my coaching journey and joined Emma by completing the SwimMastery Fundamentals training and plan to attend their advanced course in November.

I really enjoy coaching people and love the challenge of helping them to swim better no matter what their ability, swimming background and goals. I have been so encouraged with the results I’ve seen with my clients, I truly believe SwimMastery is the best and safest way to learn to swim and improve stroke technique
